Overview

This document lists the supported file types, single upload constraints, and common error messages for local upload to table, helping you perform necessary preprocessing and splitting of files before uploading.

Supported File Types

File Type
Extension name.
Description
CSV
.csv
Comma-separated structured text, a common export format
JSON
.json
JSON document; supports three layout modes: a single object, an array, and multiple objects (one per line).
Avro
.avro
Self-describing binary row-based format that requires no additional field specification
Parquet
.parquet
Self-describing binary columnar format that requires no additional field specification.
Text
.txt
Plain text file with custom delimiters
XML
.xml
XML document. A row tag is required (the system will infer it automatically).
For details about the parsing behavior and adjustable parameters of each type, see File Parsing and Inference.
Note:
A single upload supports mixing multiple types. For example, you can upload 1 CSV + 2 JSON files at a time. However, it is recommended that you upload files with similar structures in the same batch. Otherwise, a large number of empty fields will be generated in table merge mode.

Constraints for a Single Upload

Constraint item
Limit
Validation message
Number of files
At least 1, up to 10
You can upload up to 10 files.
Total file size
Total size of all files ≤ 2 GB.
You can upload files up to 2 GB in total.

Naming Rules of Fields

Source file fields may contain Chinese characters, illegal characters, or other content that is not suitable for table creation. Therefore, DataBuddy automatically normalizes field names during the file upload to table process. You can also manually adjust them in the Data Preview stage:
Original field
Processed Field
Rule
Space
Clear
Clear a field name if it contains only spaces; if all field names are empty, assign c_1 and c_2 in sequence.
Chinese
Pinyin
For example, "Name" → mingcheng
Invalid characters
_
For example, a&b → a_b
Definition of valid characters: letters, digits, underscores, /, =, and -.
Validation rules for the field name input box:
Rule
Description
First character
Must be a letter, digit, or underscore.
Character range
Only letters, digits, underscores, /, =, and - are allowed.
Length
No more than 64 characters.
Table names are processed according to the same rules: the table name is automatically populated after the original file name is parsed.

Common Error Messages

Scenario
Note.
Handling Recommendation
File quantity exceeded
You can upload up to 10 files.
Delete some files and retry.
Total capacity exceeded
You can upload files up to 2 GB in total.
Split files or keep only the necessary subset.
The file type is not supported.
Unable to select files.
Check whether the file type is in the supported list or convert the file type first.
Insufficient permissions
No permission to perform the upload service.
Check whether module permissions or service resource permissions have changed. For details, see Member and Permission Management.
Fallback error
Upload failed. {Error details}.
Troubleshoot based on the specific error description.
